Welcome to Naivasha Yacht Club - sailing in the heart of Kenya!
NAIVASHA YACHT CLUB is a private members sailing club located on Lotus Island, and enjoys a most spectacular setting on the south side of Lake Naivasha with fantastic views across the lake and also Mount Longonot. We sail single handed Lasers, double handed Fireballs, Optimists and a variety of other boats. We sail in the deeper lagoon area encircled by Lotus island and Crescent island, a KWS conservation area, and we share our island with wildlife such as waterbuck, hippos, monkeys, rare melanistic genets and a large variety of birds. We have a full calendar of events from family fun weekends and BBQs, training days for adults, a childrens' cadet programme, and various racing events.
The Club's facilities are comprised of a large clubhouse with a lounge, bar and fully kitted kitchen, outside there are patios with tables and chairs and several BBQs for members and their guests to use. There are changing rooms with hot showers, bandas with beds and matresses for those who wish to stay overnight and several flat pitches for tents for those who wish to camp. There is a boat park to leave your boat and lockable stores for your other equipment.
The Club has eight members of staff, two night guards, a qualified kitchen assistant and five day staff, two of whom are qualified RYA instructors and can provide sailing lessons to members and their guests.

Sailing & Racing
Sailing mostly takes place within the lagoon area encircled by Crescent Island, Lotus island and Snake Island, and is in fact a submerged volcano crater. Our aim is to cater for people who are interested in sailing at all levels; from beginners to experienced sailors, from those who wish to leisure sail, and those who want to compete in racing events. We run adult training weekends, ladies training weekends, fun sailing weekends and a children's programme. We have a number of dinghies for hire, approximately 15 Lasers, 15 Optimists, 2 Vibes & 4 GP14s, any of these can be used for leisure sailing or racing. We hold at least one racing weekend a month, these can be serious events such as the NYC Laser Open, or less serious, fun sailing inclusive weekends for all standards and age of sailor.
Cadet programme
Naivasha Yacht Club runs a popular cadet programme for 7 to 14-year olds, the programme is open to Members, children from our group member schools and if spaces allow non-member children.
